COLUSA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
Responds to Bioterrorism Preparedness
Individuals from Colusa Regional Medical Center, the County Health
Department and local emergency personnel recently were trained to
use specialized equipment to treat patients who may be contaminated
in the event of a bioterrorism incident.

During a decontamination exercise, teams
were instructed on the proper removal of chemicals, biological
hazards and nuclear contaminants, which could occur from a
large-scale event, agricultural accident, derailment or highway
spill.
“This training enables Colusa Regional Medical Center to better
protect our patients and staff in the event of an emergency,” said
Dale Kirby, Hospital CEO.
“Hopefully, we will never need to use this equipment. However, it is
critical that we are well prepared”, Kirby said.
“Colusa Regional Medical Center will continue to fulfill its
essential role in emergency preparedness and strengthen our
relationships with other emergency responders. Working together will
enhance our response if a bioterrorism event or other emergency
occurs in Colusa County,” he added.
