Announce Opening Reception for “Art in Public Places” Project

Sue Graue, local wildlife and nature photographer, has been selected as the first artist who will display her work at the Colusa Regional Medical Center. Sue states, “My involvement in photography began many years ago with my first 35mm camera purchase and my children as subjects. There were some years I didn’t take a single photograph and eventually my old camera quit working. In 1999, I had a renewed interest, found a used camera, and began taking photographs as a form of entertainment. Today, this photography passion sustains me with continual adventure and amazement. Images of well-known sites and once-in-a-lifetime moments, like good friends, remind me of pleasant memories and amazing discoveries – with plenty to share.”

The initial showing and reception on March 7^th from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. will be held in conjunction with a Colusa Chamber of Commerce mixer hosted by Colusa Regional Medical Center and the Art Committee. The theme will be “A Celebration of Colusa County”. In addition to the local photography, volunteers will serve appetizers made from local game and local products. The mixer will be held in the hospital lobby.

Marilyn Davison, chair of the CRMC Art Committee and CRMC Board members invites everyone to attend this “first showing” reception designed to promote entrepreneurial artists in the community. Other members of the planning committee who will be there that evening to co-hostess include: Harriet Resch from the Colusa Arts Council; Arlene Blaine, CRMC Foundation; Margie Fuson, CRMC Auxiliary; and Alaine Mills, CRMC Patient Activity Director.

The Colusa County Arts Council will be the contact for future artists wanting to display their work in the hospital. Policies have been developed that will allow artists to donate artwork, loan art for display or put artwork up for sale. Plans are also being made to have a juried show and annual fall art sale at the hospital. Proceeds will benefit patient care programs in the hospital.
