B.E.S.T. August 31, 2009 Newsletter

School is open!

High School started as early as August 12, and over the past several weeks we have been visiting the four high schools in Colusa County to recruit for the next round of B.E.S.T. classes.

The response has been tremendous, with approximately 100 students from Williams, Pierce, Maxwell and Colusa high schools taking applications.  Along with the application, each student will submit a short biography.

Colusa County One-Stop and after school ASSETS are providing the funds to provide materials and our B.E.S.T. instructor, Loraine McBurney.

The current presentation of the B.E.S.T. curriculum will include additional material for students who have already completed the first 20-hour coursework and want more!  There was a request we add enhanced material for returning B.E.S.T. students and they will learn more medical terminology and workplace etiquette.

As with the previous B.E.S.T. schedule, students will be attending on their own time, after school or Saturday.  We plan to finish in early November, with student presentations on the last class date – we’ll be sure to let you know so you can attend one or all.
